I’ve always believed that, when it comes to restaurants, you can’t go wrong with a delicatessen like DiPrato’s. Nothing beats the simple, yet tasty, fare of soup, salad, and sandwiches from a deli. Delicatessens just seem to exude a very hometown type of feel that makes you feel welcomed and comfortable.
Nestled in an off the beaten path quiet area of downtown, you’ll find just such a delicatessen. It’s a special place that will keep you coming back again and again. What is this magical place? It’s DiPrato’s on Pickens Street.
DiPrato’s boasts a comfortable atmosphere and delicious food. The wait staff is very friendly and makes you feel right at home. They offer all the classic deli style foods you could want, including a variety of salads, hot panini sandwiches, signature “cold” sandwiches, and soups. In addition, they have some amazingly delicious pimento cheese that comes with pita chips. So good!
On my most recent trip to DiPrato’s I had the Prosciutto Ham sandwich and a cup of tomato soup. The prosciutto was topped with soft melted mozzarella cheese that created a heavenly flavor combination. The tomato soup was full of flavor and very creamy. Delicious! And I had to get the pimento cheese with pita chips, of course. Classic!
DiPrato’s has a large main dining room and a smaller sun porch. Both are great spaces. And, while the room was full of people when I was there for lunch, it didn’t feel overwhelming and crowded. Nor did it feel too loud.
As you can see from the pictures, DiPrato’s is quite a popular place! And with their food being as tasty as it is, it’s no surprise.
In addition to being a dine-in restaurant, DiPrato’s also offers catering. My job has used them for catering previously and it was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend giving them a try!
So, next time you’re headed downtown, stop into DiPrato’s for lunch. You won’t regret it!
