Fun and Practical Summer Fashion for Mom

0

A quick scroll through Instagram will have me thinking my wardrobe is pretty lackluster. Whether it’s the seemingly put together mom who is styled from head to toe or the latest fashions making me hate myself for not keeping my 90s and 2000s throwbacks, it can be hard for moms and women thinking and rethinking their fashion choices. Whether you work full time outside of the house or are a stay-at-home mom the last thing you need to worry about is your fashion choices

Fashion comes and goes, forever recycling itself. I mean, who knew high waisted jeans, aka mom jeans, would make a comeback? And let’s not mention the wide legged capris that remind me of gauchos back in the late 2000s. (Yikes!) But it never hurts to kick it up and wear something that makes you smile or gets you out of your comfort zone a bit.

We all know that South Carolina summers are famously hot. Unless you work in a frigid office, no one’s wearing a jacket, blazer or anything with long sleeves. I laugh when I see social media influencers suggesting anything with long sleeves to wear in summer! So, below you will find some practical inspiration for your summer fashion. No long sleeves included.

Tops

A feminine flutter sleeve top suits just about any woman. The flutter sleeves provide a little arm coverage for those who feel self-conscious in sleeveless tops or prefer a little more coverage while working. Plus, there are an array of designs and they pair well with jeans, skirts, shorts, or dress pants.

Shorts/Capris/Skirts

As moms, it can be hard to find a pair of shorts that fit just right. For working moms, shorts may not always fit the dress code, limiting your options for comfortable summer bottoms. That’s why skirts and capris are great alternatives. Whether you go full on boho with the bohemian style skirt or opt for cargos to carry all your necessities (or your kids necessities!), these styles are functional and cute!

These NYDJ capris come in denim and other colors. Perfect for work or chasing the kids!

Swimsuits

Did I mention South Carolina is famously hot? That means the beach or the pool is constantly beckoning. Just about every mom is conscientious about something when it comes to swimsuits. But don’t let that keep you from wearing the bathing suit, getting in the water and having fun! Your kids want to have fun with mom. So ditch the worries and make the memories!

This Albion Fit suit is anything but boring with rouching to disguise what you don’t like and off the shoulder to show yourself off.
Is this Lands End suit a dress or a swimsuit? It’s both! Wear on the beach or out to dinner!
This Target tankini comes in black or a variety of patterns. The flowy top is fun and flattering and the tankini means it’s easy to take on/off.

Whatever you choose to wear this summer, just make sure it’s something you feel comfortable in. That’s what matters most.
