I stumbled upon Blue Flour Bakery in Irmo by accident, and I’m so glad I did! What started as a stop on a whim for a coffee turned into a weekly favorite for my boys and me! I may have stopped initially for the caffeine, but I have stayed for the sandwiches, cookies, atmosphere, and sweet smiles from their staff!
Items are baked fresh daily, and you can absolutely tell! The shop is full of baked goods, jams, and other specialties that have been made with real ingredients, and crafted with so much love and care.
The customer service I’ve experienced is second to none – whether I’m simply grabbing a tea to-go, pre-ordering teacher gifts, or am stopping in for lunch in the sunshine of their mini courtyard with my kids after preschool – I am always greeted with such intention and kindness. This level of customer service goes such a long way, especially when you’re wrangling kiddos while simultaneously ordering food!
Everything we’ve tried is delicious, but our family absolutely loves the hot ham & cheese sandwich on sourdough, featuring goat cheese and homemade peach pepper jam. The in-store menu also includes an egg sandwich, mini quiches, biscuits of the day, a pimento cheese sandwich, and a variety of cookies, dessert bars, and muffins.
The coffee, latte, and tea menu has something for everyone, and I highly recommend the Honey Lavender Latte. It is heaven in a mug! Custom holiday/themed sugar cookies can be pre-ordered, or purchased directly from what they have in stock, which varies depending on the day and season.
The highlight of any trip to Blue Flour Bakery, for us, is picking out one of the ‘big cookies’ from the case. The boys and I love the confetti sugar cookie above all others.
With a motto like: “Creating community through our cookies”, how can you not fall in love with every aspect of this little gem of a bakery! A perfect spot for something sweet, some time to relax, or to preorder baked yumminess for your next event (P.S they also ship nationwide!). It’s a must-stop the next time you’re out on this side of town! And make sure you snag a rewards card – your 10th coffee/tea and cookie is free!
