Columbia Mom EATS :: Laura’s Tea Room

0

A friend of mine recently turned 40 and decided to celebrate with high tea at Laura’s Tea Room. This was my first time having proper tea and it was an absolute blast!

Laura’s Tea Room is located in downtown Ridgeway, home of many beautiful historic houses and shops. The deli and gift shop are on the first floor. If you just want a quick bite, you can grab a sandwich or one of the many delicious desserts from the deli. The gift shop has every kind of tea you can think of and all sorts of cute home décor items.

When everyone from our group had arrived, we checked in at the cash register. We were directed to the mezzanine to wait for our table. If you don’t have a fancy tea hat, you can pick one out while you wait for your table. I loved trying on all of the hats!

We also got to meet the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip while we waited.

Once your table is ready, it’s time for tea. You get to pick your own tea cup before sitting down. There is quite a variety of beautiful tea cups to choose from and each tea cup has a tea spoon with it.

Laura’s picks the first hot tea and you get to pick the second. We had a cherry tea and a blueberry tea. Both teas were very enjoyable. We were also served a peach iced tea that everyone loved. Tea is served with three light courses.

Our first and second courses were a strawberry soup, small salad, and scone with cream. The strawberry soup was divine, and I have never tasted a better scone!

The third course was an assortment of tiny sandwiches and quiches, along with chocolate-dipped strawberries and other sweets. I really liked the little flower-shaped cucumber sandwiches. The chicken salad croissants were also really good. Each of the chocolate desserts was fantastic. You can’t go wrong with any of them!

After we were finished, we went back down to the gift shop and checked out. Some of our group even bought the cherry tea.

High tea was a great experience. I look forward to doing it again with other friends!
