Guide to Vacation Bible Schools (VBS) Around Columbia

It’s getting close to that time of the year again. Vacation Bible School (VBS)! For many families, VBS is a summer staple. And because they are so much fun and loaded with tons of learning and activities, it’s not uncommon for kids to attend more than one session at different churches. It’s a great way to make new friends and get involved in the community. All the Vacation Bible Schools listed below are FREE or a small cost to attend.


June 1-5 (Sunday-Thursday)

Lugoff First Baptist Church

(Lugoff) K3 through 5th grade, 6–8:30 p.m. Bring your curiosity to Magnified VBS! We will discover the BIGNESS of God in the smallest of things! We will have fun each night with praise and music, Honeycomb Dinner, Wildflower Crafts, Raindrop Recreation, and TREEmendous Bible Study! We welcome children who have turned three by August 1, 2024 to 5th Grade! We have Youth Opportunities and an Adult VBS!


June 2-5 (Monday-Thursday)

Malvern Hill Baptist Church

(Camden) Ages 2 years old through completion of 6th grade, 6–8:30 p.m. During VBS your child(ren) will be exposed to God’s word, God’s people, and most importantly, God’s love. We have a wonderful staff of volunteers who work diligently to make sure your children have fun while learning about God!  Dinner will be provided each night.


June 2-6 (Monday-Friday)

Round Hill Baptist Church

(Lexington) Ages 3 years old through 12th grade, 5:30 p.m.–8 p.m. VBS will encourage kids to look closely at the details of God’s amazing world and magnify, or proclaim, the greatness of God. God made us, cares about us, loves us, forgives us, and is faithful to keep all His promises to us. We can praise God together! We were made to magnify God!

GraceChurch of Columbia

(Downtown Columbia) Ages 4 years old through 5th grade, 6–8 p.m. Magnified! Join us as we look closely at the details of God’s amazing world and magnify, or proclaim, the greatness of God. Enjoy Bible stories, crafts, snacks, music, and games.


June 8-11 (Sunday-Wednesday)

Holland Avenue Baptist Church

(Cayce) Ages 3 years old through 8th grade, 6–8 p.m. A light snack is provided.


June 8-13 (Sunday-Friday)

Edmund First Baptist Church

(Lexington) Ages 2 through 8th grade, 5:30 p.m.–8 p.m. At True North, kids discover that they can trust Jesus in a wild world! Family Meal starting at 5:30 p.m. The fun begins at 6:00 p.m.


June 9-12 (Monday-Thursday)

Mt. Horeb UMC

(Lexington) Ages 4 years old through completion of 5th grade, Three sessions offered: 9 a.m.–12 p.m., 1:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m., 6 p.m.–8:30 p.m. It’s a week full of Bible stories, crafts, songs and snacks!


June 9-13 (Monday-Friday)

First Presbyterian Church of Columbia

(Downtown Columbia) Ages 4 old through 6th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. True North VBS is right around the corner and we are trekking into an unforgettable Alaskan adventure! Our young explorers will discover how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in our wild world today. Guiding them towards Jesus, True North VBS reveals that He is a faithful friend we can always trust. He’s our True North!


June 15-18 (Sunday-Wednesday)

Ebenezer Lutheran Church

(Downtown) Ages Pre-K through 6th grade, 6–8 p.m. A light meal each evening at 5:30 p.m. and classes at 6 p.m. There’s an adult class too!

Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church

(Lexington) Ages preschool through 6th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Take kids on the ultimate Alaskan adventure where the northern lights shine over majestic mountains, racing rivers, and sparkling glaciers. As they trek the tundra, they’ll discover how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in our wild world today. Guiding them towards Jesus, True North VBS reveals that He is a faithful friend we can always trust. He’s our True North!


June 16-19 (Monday-Thursday)

Seacoast Church

(Irmo) Ages kindergarten through 5th grade, 6 p.m.–8 p.m. Through impactful Bible stories, practical lessons, and engaging activities, children will learn about Jesus’ teachings and how to live them in their daily lives. The goal is to share the truth of the Gospel with kids in your community and, through that, help them to see how they can offer the world their gifts of service, kindness, forgiveness, prayer, and community that echo Jesus’ example.

Union United Methodist Church

(Irmo) Ages children through 5th grade, 6:15 p.m.–8 p.m. Join us for Vacation Bible School.


June 16-20 (Monday-Friday)

Spring Valley Baptist Church

(Northeast) Ages completed 3K through completed 7th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Magnified VBS is an action-packed, high-energy week designed to help kids learn more about God through Bible stories, music, games, and hands-on activities. Each day, they’ll experience powerful lessons about God’s greatness and the importance of trusting in His plan. With vibrant activities and unforgettable experiences, your child will leave with a deeper understanding of how God can work in their lives.


June 22-25 (Saturday-Wednesday)

Trenholm Road United Methodist Church

(Downtown Columbia) Ages 4 through 5th grade, 5:30 p.m.-7:45 p.m. Get ready for a week of faith-filled week as Trenholm Road UMC presents Vacation Bible School (VBS): Live It Out- Discover how to love like Jesus! Join us as we explore how to love those around us through engaging Bible stories, music, crafts, and fun activities and so much more. Dinner will be provided each night for participants and volunteers.

Northside Baptist Church

(Lexington) Ages rising K5 through rising 5th grade, 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m. This will be an amazing week!


June 23-25 (Monday-Wednesday)

Mt Hermon Lutheran Church

(West Columbia) Ages preschool through youth aged kids. An adult class and nursery is available if needed, 6:15 p.m.–8:15 p.m. There will be lots of fun for preschool and elementary students with guided activities, Bible story adventures, science and crafts as well as team games.


June 23-26 (Monday-Thursday)

Gateway Baptist Church

(Irmo) Ages 3 years old through completed 5th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Each day your kids will experience large group worship and teaching, small group discussion, and a lot of fun and engaging activities. We will also have a snack each day!

Shandon Baptist Church

(Columbia) Ages completed 5 year old kindergarten through completed 5th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. 


June 23-27 (Monday-Friday)

Northeast Presbyterian Church

(Northeast) Ages potty trained 3 through rising 3rd graders, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. and rising 4th grade through 6th grade, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Howdy Partners! Dust off your boots and grab your bandanas! It’s time to giddy-yup for the BEST WEEK EVER around these parts. Round up ‘yerself, your horses, and your love for Jesus as we travel to NEPC Wonder Junction VBS!

Cedar Creek Baptist Church

(Blythewood) Rising 1st through 6th grade, 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Our Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a fun-filled, faith-building program designed to help children grow in their knowledge of God’s love. Each summer, we invite children to join us for an exciting week of Bible lessons, music, crafts, games, and fellowship.

12 Springs Community Church

(Lexington) Ages kindergarten through 5th grader, 6 p.m.–8:30 p.m. Join us for an exciting week of fun, faith, and adventure at Vacation Bible School! This free event will be filled with games, crafts, snacks, worship, and more. Over five evenings, we’ll explore the wonders of God’s great creations and learn how we can magnify His greatness in our lives.


July 7-11 (Monday-Friday)

St. Joseph Catholic Church

(Downtown Columbia): Ages 3 potty trained through 5th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Guide kids on the ultimate Alaskan adventure where northern lights glow over majestic mountains, racing rivers, and glistening glaciers. (Lexington) Ages kindergarten to 5th grade, 6 p.m.–8:45 p.m. It’s filled with Bible lessons, science, fun games, missions, worship, and snacks! Our volunteers work hard to demonstrate and teach God’s love for us!


July 14-16 (Monday-Wednesday)

Red Bank United Methodist

(Lexington) Additional Details and registration coming soon. Dinner will be served. Bible lesson, crafts, games and much more!


July 14-18 (Monday-Friday)

Harvest Church

(Lexington) Ages completed 5K through 5th graders, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. VBS is a weeklong experience for kids like no other! In five fun-packed days, students who’ve completed 5K through 5th grade will encounter a powerful experience of love and grace through fantastic storytelling, adrenaline-fueled games, creatively inspired crafts, high-energy songs, all while growing closer to God and making lifelong friendships.

  1. 12 Springs Community Church will host VBS Monday, July 22 through Friday, July 26, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm!
    Join us for worship, music, drama skits, games, Bible study, and missions. Snacks will be provided nightly.

  3. Zion Lutheran Church will be hosting VBS Sunday July 6th through Thursday July 10th! 6:00PM-8:00PM

    It’s a week full of crafts, Bible stories, snacks, and games, with an end of summer bash on Thursday night for kids and families! A staffed nursery will be available!
