Mom talk? Matcha? I’m there!
There’s nothing like getting a caffeine boost while chatting with fellow moms. Coffee shops are a great place to mingle with moms, especially in the fall and spring. But how do you keep your kids occupied while you chat with your gal pals? Personally, I don’t enjoy chasing my toddler through the cafe. Thankfully, Columbia has some fantastic coffee shops that are perfect for kids! Even more exciting, some even host mom meet-ups. Check them out below!
1. Loveland Coffee
Loveland Coffee is a Columbia staple. Not only do they boast a variety of coffee and tea options and some delicious sandwiches, but they have a children’s play area inside the shop. Genius! The kids’ corner has a kitchen set, table with chairs, a playhouse, and books. After you grab your drink, let your kids explore the play area. That should give you at least 10 minutes to sip your chai tea latte in peace. Loveland also has an upstairs area if you need more space to spread out with your littles. You’ll find Loveland at 7475 Carlisle St.

2. Bloomin Bean Coffee
Flower market meets cafe. Let’s just call this a field trip, and it’s a win for both the kids and us moms. Take an opportunity to explore beautiful flowers while you order a hot tea or coffee. This could be a cute, tranquil outing, unless you have four boys like I do, who might just rip off the flowers and run around the cafe. If that’s the case, no fear, Doko Meadows Park is just around the corner. You’ll find Bloomin Bean Coffee located at 412 McNulty St.
3. Lazy Daisy
Located at 4615 Forest Drive, this chic coffee shop is new on the scene but is quickly gaining momentum. Lazy Daisy boasts tasty signature lattes, classic coffee drinks, tea, hot chocolate, refreshers, and more! Steeped in their belief that “coffee is more than just a drink—it’s a catalyst for conversations, relationships, and a building block for our community,” Lazy Daisy hosts a monthly children’s story time called Lattes & Littles. Story time is sponsored by the Cola Baby Social Club and is the first Friday of every month from 9:00-9:30am. Sign me up for an iced vanilla latte and Thomas the Train!

4. Bitty and Beau’s
We are all different, and it’s beautiful. Do you have older children and can use some fruitful conversation starters? Bitty and Beaus is on a mission to provide job opportunities for people with disabilities. This is a great way to spark conversation, raise awareness, and dismantle stigmas. They consider themselves a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop. Not to mention, their coffee is delicious. There’s a reason why they have 4.8 stars on Google. Large hot chocolate, here I come! Bitty and Beau’s is located at 1001 Gervais St. in the Vista.
5. Piecewise Coffee – Cayce
Piecewise coffee shop is all about community. Bring your stroller to their Cayce location (2001 State St, Cayce) and join the Piecewise Run Club. If fitness isn’t your thing, they have a book club where you can sit and relax those legs. Bring a book for you and a book for your kiddos. It’s a wonderful spot to sip some custom coffee drinks and read!
In addition to delicious drinks, Piecewise also has some tasty treats like overnight oats for you and your littles to snack on. The best thing is that the decor is pretty durable. You won’t feel nervous about items for your littlest ones to break. Oh, and of course, don’t forget to slurp down their Banana Bread Iced Latte summer special. It doesn’t get much better than that!
6. Vibez Coffee
Set to open late August 2025 at 622 Canalside St, this coffee shop near downtown will host a MomCo group every second and fourth Friday of the month at 10 a.m. Some of the meetups will offer childcare for your littles while you slowly sip your caramel macchiato in peace or chat it up with your girlfriends. Childcare while on a coffee date? Oh, yeah!

BONUS:
Dulce Bakery and Cafe
Okay, I’ll be honest. This pick is more for moms than the kids, but I just had to include it. Your mouth will water over Dulce’s irresistible sweet treats! These treats are perfect alongside your double shot of espresso or one of their amazing signature lattes. I don’t know about you, but I’m not sharing with my kids! They can get their own. Satisfy your sweet tooth at 1213 Lincoln St.
Did I miss your favorite coffee spot? It’s possible. Columbia has over 80 coffee shops! We’d be here all day if I tried to list them all, and the kids are probably getting restless already. Let’s make this a collaborative effort…
