If you haven’t been to Lexington’s newest playground this is your sign to go! Say hello to Wingard Park, a brand new park and playground in Lexington.

Wingard Park opened September 5, 2025 thanks to the generosity of the late Ms. Willie Wingard, who donated the land for this very reason. It was designed to be inclusive and foster a sense of community and fun, and they have definitely accomplished that.

This park is truly one of a kind, with over 14 acres of a wonderfully and carefully designed play space. This space fosters creativity and community. When you visit Wingard Park you are bound to do something new and meet new friends while doing it.

When you arrive you will find ample parking space and a clearly marked overflow lot. The entire play area is completely fenced in, and to enter you must lift the latch. So it’s a very safe space for you and your family.

There are also four family sized restrooms and a water fountain area to refill after a busy morning of play. In addition, the restrooms are ADA accessible.

Enjoy lunch or a snack with the many shaded picnic tables with plenty of room for all of your friends.

There are seven designated play areas with different structures, a playground designed more for older children, two geared for younger children, a swing area, a music area, zip line area, and an open ended space with moving tea cups, a tree, and flower structure.

What we love about it

I love that Wingard Park is completely fenced in. Maybe us moms can actually talk for a few moments without worrying about a little one going on their own adventures! I also love the turf, it is soft and so clean; perfect for your littles that aren’t quite walking yet or those that are just starting to walk.

This playground will definitely be a new favorite and we can’t wait to make many more memories and have many playdates in the near future!
