Richland Library announces the unveiling of its new interactive learning space for babies and toddlers, a thoughtfully designed, early literacy space created especially for babies, toddlers, and their caregivers.

The interactive space, affectionately called the baby and toddler wall, includes 14 interchangeable panels, four of which are rotated periodically, allowing the library to refresh the experience and offer young children new opportunities for sensory exploration, fine motor development, and discovery over time.

Funded by the C. David Warren Fund, the interactive learning mural celebrates the legacy of C. David Warren, Richland Library Executive Director Emeritus, and his transformative impact on innovative public library service and lifelong learning.

The interactive space for babies and toddlers is home to a vibrant mural featuring the work of illustrator Anita Lobel, whose whimsical, child-centered illustrations bring warmth, imagination, and visual storytelling centering beloved character, “Nini” the cat, to the space, inviting children and caregivers alike to pause, explore, and connect.

In addition to the mural and interactive wall panels, the space features stackable wooden animal manipulatives that encourage imaginative play, problem-solving, and hands-on learning. It also houses a curated collection of board books, displayed on child-accessible bookcases supports early literacy by inviting families to read together and make books a natural part of play.
