Mother's Day in Columbia: 4 Ways to Make Mom Feel Special! Mother’s Day in Columbia and beyond is quickly approaching. Are you ready?!

I can’t help but look back on my own mother and all the mother figures that shaped me into who I am today. My mother was always the constant in our family, and still is. She is there no matter what, she knows me better than I know myself and can always put a smile on my face. She knows just what I need and always gives the best advice.

I would always ask my mom what she wanted for Mother’s Day growing up and she wouldn’t mention gifts but experiences. Here are a few of our favorite local experiences for all the mothers to make your Mother’s Day truly special.

1. For the coffee connoisseur

Give mom the gift of coffee from local favorites like Loveland Coffee, Indah Coffee, or O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe. They have great sweet treats too! Check out THIS list for more great coffee spots in Columbia!

2. For the spa lover

Treat mom to a spa day from Spa 131! With a wide range of services from facials to hot river stone massages, there’s something for everyone. After her spa day let mom get her hair done at Salon 561. Still need some pampering? Book a night at one of our luxury boutique hotels like Hotel Trundle.

3. For the foodies

Take mom out to lunch at Market on Main, The Gourmet Shop, or, for our vegan moms, The Goodlife Cafe. Then get dessert at Sweet Cream Co. For dinner you’ll want to take her to Smoked or Hendrix. If you’re craving some dessert and cocktails after dinner, why not hop on over to Kaminskys?

4. For the outdoor lover

Enjoy a peaceful walk along the Riverfront listening to the sweet sounds of the river. You can also bring mom to Saluda Shoals Park and let her decide her activity from kayaking to watching the kids play at Leo’s Landing. Wanting more? Visit the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden for animals and endless fun. A yearly membership is a great gift for a mom too!

These are just a few ideas but there are so many ways to celebrate Mother’s Day. Remember, Mother’s Day isn’t always about the gifts, although a nice sentiment, but how the day makes you feel. I hope this Mother’s Day you feel appreciated and know how truly valuable you are.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our mothers out there in any shape or form! We see you, we honor you, and we appreciate all that you do and have done.
