I have had at least one toddler at my house for the past five years. Five years! That’s a lot!
Toddlerhood is the age comprised between one and three years old. And while I love all the wittiness, the innocence, and the full-speed emotions, sometimes I start to yearn for the moment when all of my children are a bit older, so I can plan different activities with them. Specifically activities that do not involve running around, that last longer than ten minutes, and/or activities that require a little bit more patience and concentration on the kid’s end.
Don’t get me wrong, I love having toddlers! But sometimes I feel like I am ready to embark on a different journey with my children … like I’m ready to move on to the next stage with them. And other times I feel like I want to keep having a toddler at my house forever. Oh, motherhood!
Here are some of the activities I can’t wait to try with my girls as they get older.
- Going to a tea room and having afternoon tea. (Like at Laura’s Tea Room)
- Going to a paint party. I would love to take my girls somewhere like Painting with a Twist or Studio Cellar.
- Going to the movies without having to worry that much if my girls are going to be able to last for the whole movie in their seat.
- I would love to actually be able to have a complete deck of cards at my house that lasts longer than 30 minutes before somebody misplaces a card.
- I want to be able to sit with them to play board games for at least an hour.
While I wait for my girls to grow older, I am going to keep embracing my wild and loud toddler, and I am going to continue cherishing this moments. I know for a fact that someday I will miss this.
