10 Ways Valentine’s Day is Different When You’re Pregnant

Valentine’s Day: The day lovers celebrate the fact that they are no longer single…

Being a married lady I am happy to report that my hubby is super romantic and always manages to make V-Day extra special. Whether its jewelry, a sentimental card, or a fancy dinner, he goes above and beyond to show how much he loves and adores me.

However, this year I am pregnant with our second child and Valentine’s Day, well, let’s just say its not quite the love fest it has been in years past. Here are 10 ways Valentine’s Day is different when you’re pregnant…

1. You’d rather binge watch Netflix and order Chinese takeout than try to maneuver dinner and a movie. (One perk: you can pause for however many bathroom breaks you desire)

2. You cried three times while picking out your husband’s card and it had nothing to do with the actual card.

3. A box of chocolates could send your gestational diabetes into overdrive.

4. That bottle of perfume your husband gets you every year now smells like cat urine mixed with dirty hippie.

5. There is nothing and I mean NOTHING that will entice you to put on lingerie. Victoria’s “Secret” is that her sizes are not made for normal women let alone pregnant ones.

6. You book a couples massage and ask for a private room so your husband won’t hear your Round Ligament pain groans.

7. Sexy time is interrupted by a major kick to the ribs, leaky boobs, or … just forget it. You’re not in the mood anyway.

8. Your husband makes reservations at the hottest new restaurant in town and all they serve is raw sushi.

9. Instead of a private ballroom or salsa class you spend the evening at Lamaze.

10. There’s a good chance your husband will be holding your hair back and it won’t be because you drank too much wine at dinner.

Are you pregnant this Valentine’s Day? How are you spending your romantic evening?

Ashleigh
Ashleigh always knew she wanted to be a mom, but a stay at home mom, not so much. At 26 she found herself trading in her lipstick and high heels for Burt’s Bee’s and nursing bras. The first of their core group of friends to have kids, Ashleigh and her husband Eric strive to maintain their fun loving lifestyle while simultaneously raising their toddler daughter. Luckily, Tiny Girl is an adorable extrovert who loves getting out and about as much as her parents. On weekends you can find the threesome strolling the aisles of Target, road tripping it to Charleston, or hosting friends in Irmo for epic board game battles.

  1. These are too funny! This is the second Valentine’s Day while pregnant. I was pregnant three years ago and now I’m pregnant with our third baby.

We just got finished with Mardi Gras I really didn’t know Valentine’s Day was coming until yesterday! A quiet night in sounds nice, so does as many bathroom breaks as I want!
