I received an order of Quinn’s Cookies as I started my second breastfeeding journey. They arrived just in time, a couple of days after I had my baby girl!

I’m always skeptical about lactation cookies because they can be hit or miss in the taste department. Quinn’s lactation (or “New Mom”) cookies did NOT disappoint! I dug in to one of them right when I got the box open to check on the taste factor. Each cookie is individually sealed (I actually have to use scissors to get into them) for ultimate freshness.

I ordered the Turtle variety and I definitely made the right choice. These cookies were soft and chewy and this particular flavor was the PERFECT mix of sweet and salty. The caramel was gooey and the chocolate chunks were big and in every bite. Every now and then I was surprised with a pecan too! They didn’t taste any different than a regular cookie that you would find in a bakery … actually, they’re quite possibly better than your average bakery cookie!

One of the best things about these was not having to share. The second I told my husband or other family members that they were ‘lactation cookies’, they backed off. While there isn’t actual breast milk in the mix (which I stressed), and they can’t actually cause someone to begin lactating (which I also stressed), it was enough keep them from sneaking a bite (which I appreciated since they really are designed to help nursing mothers). I also used the “It’s basically medicine” excuse whenever my husband found me eating one at midnight.

I started eating Quinn’s Cookies as soon as my daughter was born, and while I don’t know that I had low supply to begin with, I will say that I have a really awesome supply at the moment! Deep down I really feel like these cookies helped, even if it was just an ounce or two each feeding. I use my ‘Hakka’ manual pump on the opposite side when we nurse and always get 2-3 ounces of ‘runoff’. I’ve saved up a TON of breast milk in my deep freezer just from catching leaks in the manual pump!

quinns cookies-specialty baked goods-lactation cookie-breastfeeding-If you’re looking to boost or maintain your supply, I’d definitely recommend Quinn’s Cookies. While they can’t guarantee you’ll see results, they are made with ingredients to help support milk production for lactating mothers. And it never hurts to try anything along the way that may be beneficial. I’d also recommend consulting a lactation consultant if you’re struggling. These skilled individuals can help provide strategies specific to you in your breastfeeding journey.

    Ayana Nell
Ayana is a stay-at-home mom to Leopold (2) and will add a baby girl to the mix this September. Born in Arizona but raised in Columbia, Ayana has had plenty of time to adjust to the heat and humidity, but can still be heard complaining about it all summer long. She has always taken an interest in all things baby and toddler, so all bets are off now that she has children of her own. Some of her interests include pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum (being a doula is on her to-do list) as well as baby clothes and gear. This passion mixed with having a tiny test subject led Ayana to start her own mommy blog, Little Prince Leopold. It is there and on her Instagram that she spends her free time talking about the latest and greatest in the kid world, as well as giving her opinions, advice, and firsthand experience on all things baby related. Ayana also loves reading (although she never makes time for it anymore), travel, Harry Potter, musicals, and watching Netflix in the evenings with her husband James and their dogs, Niko and Rahksi.
