I grew up in a very crafty house. One of the things we always had in our home was block stamps. Apparently, I’ve been stamping since I was 9 months old. So naturally, I would pass that on to my son, as I’ve kept up the craft.
My mom is a demonstrator for Stampin Up, which is a company that manufactures a variety of stamp sets, printed paper, ink pads, punches, ribbons, and all kinds of embellishments. Their products are also perfect for scrapbooking! BUT, what we typically use them for, is creating unique and one-of-a-kind cards.
If you own even a few stamp sets, inks, and card stock – you can create some fabulous cards, year-round. Since my son is now two years old, this Father’s Day I decided to let him help with the card and get my husband a real present he can actually use.
These DIY toddler-made cards are also great for birthday parties! I don’t know about you, but we’ve already been to two birthdays this summer alone, and I think this makes the gift-giving process super special for the kids. He had so much fun making this card and gets to practice instruction while exploring his creative side.
What you’ll need:
- Card stock & Envelope
- Ink Pads
- Stamps
- Washi Tape
- Punches
I went ahead and set up the area for toddler use ahead of time. Tear some strips of washi tape so there are set amounts, easily available. Get the stamps ready and the ink pad open for quick stamping.
Let the fun begin!
He had more fun playing with this hammer stamp than actually using it… but oh, well. That’s what you get when you craft with toddlers. Just go with it.
And here is the final product! This is all done, 100% by my son. He just used the washi tape, stamps, and ink with card stock and also designed the envelope. You could also punch out some fun shapes to add to your card, but I just used a big punch for the “Father’s Day” greeting, as my son was pretty much over it after this point.
And here is my version of the card. I usually always make at least one handmade card for every occasion, sometimes more to save for future events. This stamp set is actually super cute because it can be used for men, but it’s cute enough for toddlers/boys too.
