Love Those Who Love You

A lot of people base their lives off of titles.

Because a person has a title (or special place) in your life, you feel as though they should be there. When a title doesn’t mean they have to love you. A title is just that; a title.

Those who love you will love you because they love you.

As I think about life, I realize I was once a person stuck on titles. If anyone had a title in my life I felt like they deserved a place in my life. But I don’t see it that way anymore. The way I see it now is that not everyone deserves a place in my life. And their title doesn’t mean they mean me any good.

Today so many people are searching for love through those that have titles in their life. However, while trying to gain love from that person, they’re missing out on the love they already have from others.

I remember feeling like everybody who had a title in my life should be there for me. And when they didn’t show up in my life, it would put me in a bad space. I didn’t even appreciate who was there because the people I wanted to be there weren’t.

Then I realized the people who were there wanted to be there. I didn’t have to keep sending them reminders or anything. They sent me messages to check in and see how I was. They would ask if they could bring anything over to my house when they came to visit. They were just there for me.

So after a while I began to realize that titles are just that, titles. And that a title doesn’t guarantee that the person that holds that specific title will be there for you.

I say all of that to say this: love those who love you.

Don’t worry about who you feel should be there. Appreciate those who are. Don’t get wrapped up in titles because your expectations of what a person should be in your life isn’t always what it will be.
