A Self-Care Bucket List for Fall

0

Bucket lists have become one of my favorite things to create these days! As we, along with our kids, settle into our back-to-school routines and the fall season approaches, I thought it would be a great idea to create a new bucket list with self-care as the focus.

Did you know that eight out of ten moms struggle with incorporating a self-care routine into their lives? The lack of self-care causes us to have unbalanced day-to-day lives that only hinder us in the long run.

While getting your dead ends clipped and getting a mani-pedi are a part of self-care, your self-care routine should go beyond those things. Think about what would serve you best in this season of motherhood and create a living, breathing routine that would allow you to your best day in and day out.

A Deeper Look at Self-Care

Self-care is tied to self-love and, as parents, it’s important to show our kiddos that taking care of yourself is a part of loving yourself. So think about what you’d like your children to imitate as they grow into adults; confidence, strength, purpose, etc. All of these things tie together and collide with self-care.

I like to think that as moms, we have a special job. Not just to take care of our kids but to give them tools that they will need later in life. And some of those tools they get from what they see us do.

Self-Care Routine Tips

  • What do you need in this season of life? We are all different people and are in different stages of life. What one mama needs isn’t going to be the same as another mama. Be clear on what would give you the joy, peace, and strength to get through each day in your current position in life.
  • What can I do in just a few minutes a day? Don’t have the ability to take a self-care day? That’s okay! Think about something you can do for yourself that only takes a few moments to do each day, or every other day, that centers you and gives you that boost you need to finish your day strong.
  • Are there any changes I can make today to make tomorrow easier? Sometimes a plan goes a long way. Think about things you can add or take away that would make your days easier or better.

Seasonal Self-Care

Each season is like a reset button. From spring cleaning to winter rest, there are things you can add to your self-care routine based on the season. Even our bodies operate on cycles, so why not create a self-care cycle that changes along with us?

Fall Self-Care Bucket List

  • Bake a sweet treat just for you. (Do not share!)
  • Do a calming yoga routine.
  • Check out the fall foliage on a hike
  • Read a fall themed romance novel. (Do an audiobook if you must!)
  • Sell or giveaway items you no longer need. (Decluttering feels so good!)
  • Take five deep breaths before getting out of bed each morning.
  • Use fall scents in your diffuser before bed.
  • Make a list of things you’d like to do before the year ends.
  • Print photos from your phone and create a scrapbook. (Then clear out your phone, you know you need the space!)
  • Visit a new restaurant or a museum in Columbia.
  • Host a charcuterie board party with your mom friends.

These are just a few ideas to get you started on being more intentional with your self-care and your self-love this Fall.

What other ideas would you add to the list?
