Columbia Mom FAVORITES :: 5 Summer Items I’m Loving Right Now

0

It’s summertime, which means it’s hot and humid! I’ve learned to adapt to these steamy summer months by finding products that make the heat and humidity a bit more bearable.

Today I’m going to share my five favorite products with you in the hopes that they will help make our crazy SC summer weather a bit more enjoyable for you and your family as well.

1. Linen Clothing

We need to do all we can to stay cool in this HOT summer weather. One way to keep cool is by wearing clothes made from linen. Linen is a very breathable fabric that allows your body to stay cool, even in the hottest of temperatures. I’ve found some great styles at both Amazon and Old Navy that I really enjoy. I can wear pants on a 95-degree day and not feel like I’m melting!

2. Spindrift Sparkling Water

It’s important to make sure we stay hydrated all summer long. But if you’re craving something a little more than just regular water, give Spindrift Sparkling Water a try. The ingredients are literally just sparkling water and fruit juice, with no added sugars. At a max of 17 calories a can and only one to three grams of sugar, you can’t go wrong! There are a variety of different flavors to try like lemon, raspberry lime, grapefruit, and Mango orange. My favorite flavors are grapefruit and Island Punch.

3. Mineral Sunscreen

Sunscreen is a MUST when you live in the south. It’s important to protect both our children and ourselves from damage to our skin from the sun. Unfortunately, many types of sunscreen contain chemicals. That’s why my family uses thinksport sunscreen. Thinksport is a mineral sunscreen that doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals. It’s dermatologist tested, water resistant (up to 80 min!), benzene free, and is an EWG verified product. From an application point of view, it goes on easily and is not greasy, nor does it have a bad odor. Perfect for everyone in the family!

4. Mesh Beach Bag

Summertime means plenty of beach time! When you’re headed to the beach with kids in tow, you want to bring as few bags as possible.  That’s where purchasing a large mesh beach bag comes in handy! I love my mesh beach bag. It’s large enough to fit towels for my entire family, plus sunscreen, my phone, keys, seashell collection bag, and more!

5. Supportive Summer Sandals

During the summer, I pretty much live in sandals and flip flops. Unfortunately, I’ve recently developed Plantar Fasciitis. This means I can’t wear my cheap Walmart flip flops anymore if I don’t want to have constant heal pain.

So, instead, I bought myself a pair of supportive flip flops that help give my feet the support I need. They have greatly decreased the amount of discomfort I experience, and I still get to wear flip flops! In case you’re asking yourself if they’re ugly (because a lot of times we equate supportive shoes with ugly shoes), they are not ugly at all. In fact, there are quite a lot of different styles of both supportive flip flops and sandals that are very attractive.
